- Completion (or closing) Date: This is the date that the buyer’s lawyer/notary submits the transaction paperwork to the Land Title Office for the registration of new ownership. This process is usually finalized in the late afternoon. Once their lawyer/notary receives confirmation of registration from the Land Title Office, they will send a copy of that paperwork to our office.
- Possession Date & Time: This is the specific moment that your agent will be able to hand over the keys to the buyer’s agent.
The following is a list of tasks for you to consider as this date approaches:
- Ensure that you’ve signed all the closing paperwork via your legal representation, or have made the appointment to do so in the very near future.
- Refer back to your Contract to verify that any inclusions have not been accidentally packed up or removed.
- Cancel current utilities or transfer them to your new address.
- Set up mail forwarding via this link through Canada Post to ensure you don’t miss anything sent to your previous address.
- Don’t want to clean? Visit the Directory link at the top of this page to find a list of local cleaners that would be more than happy to help you out.
Please get in touch with your agent any time if you have any questions or concerns about anything.
